This is basically where I’ve ended my first Saturday Twitch stream at, minus a few minor tweaks.
I’m pretty happy with those hands, personally. :’D I’ve liked drawing hands for years, though, so getting to focus on them once again is really, really fun.
I’m thinking of holding another stream tomorrow because I also want to see THIS cover thing done, as well as the logo for this entire comic/comic series I’m slowly working on in my spare time.
I thought about this for a bit while driving a few days ago (anxious rumination will do that), realized that I haven’t bothered to ever use the type-on-path tool in Adobe Illustrator for years, and figured that I might as well give it another stab instead of doing grid design once again.
I’m normally not a big fan of printing things (because it’s expensive), although I’m a bit of an oddball in the sense that I almost always work in CMYK in the event that I might print something for some reason or another. (Hey, you never know when you need to print a logo, even if it’s predominantly supposed to be in digital environments). So, I finally have that stereotypically design-for-designers CMYK piece that most designers have at some point or another. (I’ve noticed it in a lot of people’s design portfolios, anyway. I don’t know why this happens, but I always see it happen.)
I’ve been telling myself that I eventually want to teach myself Adobe AfterEffects. Maybe I should do it with this. (I mean, rotating your head to read arguments is annoying. I might as well do that for to make it an easier viewing experience at some point...even though the bright and obnoxious print colors under Circular Arguments might make it a little annoying.)
I’m at the point where I never want to work with this color combo ever again.
Probably not the best work, but it’s more or less a second draft of a typographic quickdraw I made when I was irritated at another classmate over trying to lecture me about gender roles.
So, I had this commission for a friend that I finally finished—I have to say that I’m proud of myself for getting Photoshop CC’s current liquefy tool to recognize this as an actual face and let me make a few slight tweaks as if it was a photo of an actual person. I legit did not expect that.
I’m more or less satisfied with this, but this ultimately demonstrated a huge problem in graphic design. Specifically, when you find a really good font, but you have to either pay money or contact someone to use it for commercial use.
I say this because the left one is completely freeware fonts (Milkshake + Ostrich Sans), but the right one uses Blacksword, which is only free for personal use. I COULD do my own handlettering, but that’s time consuming on my end, and I want to turn this into a card ASAP...so in terms of my time, that’s not an option.
I’m kinda sad that I can’t commercially use the right one at this time. At least I have a cute corgi in a bowtie staring at me to reassure me that it’s all gonna be ok.
(And for the record, I am aware that you cannot actually give alcohol to doggos. Truffles had no wine, and the wine is only there as a photoshoot prop. My roommate drank the wine later. Truffles got to have a couple of crackers, though.)
My previous Web design is actually alive now. I'm pretty happy about that. #webdesign #uxdesign #AdobeMuse #officespace #stapler
My style of procrastinating—work on other things that aren’t immediately productive, but are productive for things later on down the road that I enjoy.
That said, I’m still a sad sap who’s trying to make black and brown work. (But oh boy, can I tell you how much I like dark reds combined with black?)
So, I got hit with a clopening the first day at my new job, and I feel sick from sleep deprivation.
I'm considering sleeping and moving the stream to tomorrow afternoon after running a few errands that matter a whole lot to me.
I have learned that watching Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure all over again when you already know the exact flow of the story yields some interesting tidbits—particularly, bits of dialogue and animation are really beautiful examples of foreshadowing, and I’m just like “Ah! That’s so cool!”
Unfortunately, me and my spoiler hound attitude has screwed up one of my roommates. The other one is new to Jojo, and I have to reign in the first roommate so that the second one isn’t spoiled when he doesn’t want to be, and it’s weird to be vaguely told “well, I got used to you being ok with spoilers!”, and it’s like...
...ay, even spoiler hounds gotta have manners around others who aren’t.
I apologize for the upload spree (unless you follow a lot of people)—but I am re-uploading the finished zombie dude that was previously a WIP on here.
Basically, I’m pretty happy with my Victorian proto-Zombie from The Monkey’s Paw attempt.
Greetings and salutations! I'm a graphic designer/illustrator, and this is my Tumblr. Feel free to check my about page for more info about me. Also, I only post my own things here—almost all reblogs will go to @dandyreblogs. Check that out if you're into aesthetics and other curious things.
