i love this moment so much cause i think ian goes through lots of emotions during the whole ‘bashing mickey’ moment that byron is having. at first hes of course taken by surprise to hear that conversation. but as byron keeps complaining ian starts get pissed off at everything that he says, like he can’t believe anyone could ever badmouth mickey like that?
what do they even know about him? about everything he has done and gone through his life? the way he took care and loved ian despite everything they had to go through? who is he to judge him for not being “book” smart or simply not as pretentious as him and his friends?
as byron keeps digging his own grave, ian gets angrier, maybe realising that what the hell, they don’t understand mickey like he does, they won’t love him the way he deserves and ian wants to give that to him, wants to protect him and let him feel loved like he deserves. mickey had been bashed by everyone—
mandy saying mickey doesn’t need to do anything specific to server being beaten, terry wanting to kill him for being who he is, karen and veronica saying he’s dirty, lip saying falling for mickey means anyone else he ends up with will be better, fiona doubting mickey being there for ian after the diagnosis despite witnessing all he has done for him. and then mandy again finding out ian is dating someone else and how that’s an upgrade from mickey.
how mickey being rejected translated to him in ‘ian doesn’t love me enough, i got it it’s fine it is what is’ and the break up in s5 with mickey saying ‘this is it?’ just like he expected that to happen at some point no matter how much he tries he’s never going to be enough for ian.
but that’s not true cause ian did everything with mickey in mind thinking he’s going to be happier without ian and his bipolar but they don’t understand and love mickey the way ian does and no one deserves to be with mickey but ian cause he knows who mickey milkovich really is and he loves him more than anything in the world

whenever i think about the sleepover i think about the fact that ian and mickey were kissing at that point and they probably spent AGES making out because they had the time and it was probably the greatest night of their lives up to that point, and they were finally turning a corner and making progress and they definitely slept in mickey’s bed together and that’s it that’s where it ends NOTHING BAD EVER HAPPENS AGAIN
A huge number of people are already getting fucked over when it comes to being allowed to cast a vote in the upcoming elections. Let’s try to minimize what that number COULD be as much as possible. It might also be useful to have the number for the ACLU written down (or already in your phone) so you can CALL THEM while still at the polling place and get whatever information is needed in order to see about having the ACLU sue them. Write down names. Get witnesses. Take photos. MAKE IT VERY CLEAR TO THE POLLSTERS THAT YOU ARE GOING TO HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE. (Unless you have reason to believe they’re going to be assholes and try to have you arrested for doing so, in which case, be as subtle as possible.)

How to Forgive Yourself
1. Recognise the importance of forgiving yourself. Not forgiving yourself will deplete your energy, and leave you feeling all chewed up inside. It keeps you living in the past instead of living in the present – so it’s hard to make the most of what’s happening today.
2. Recognise the effects of not forgiving yourself. Those negative emotions like shame and regret are also bad for our long term health – as they undermine and damage a healthy immune system.
3. Name the emotions you are struggling with. Simply naming your emotions can help reduce their power. It brings some order and control into our lives again when we’re hit by overwhelming and negative emotions.
4. Reflect on the fact that we all make mistakes, make foolish decisions and act badly at times. It’s part of being human – you’re an imperfect person. We all do stupid things, and say some things that we regret.
5. Try to let go of other people’s expectations. We can’t please everyone – it’s not going to happen. Decide on your own standards, then try to live by them. Also, if you’re looking for approval you’ll never measure up as you’ll always meet someone who will criticise and judge.
6. Practise self-forgiveness. It’s healthy to acknowledge the regrets that you have – but then you need to be willing to let go of the past – and decide to move forwards - and live life differently.

You think Lip sometimes looks at Ian and Mickey and just smiles a little to himself because who would’ve seen that coming?
Like, Lip’s always been good with odds and numbers and back in the day, back when they started out a fucking lifetime ago, absolutely nobody would have bet on those two making it in the end.
He had been around back then, on the side lines catching glimpses from time to time. From ‘Mickey’s gay and we’re doing it’ and ‘i know what he felt with me’ to 'you think i should’ve?’ and 'because i love him’.
And Lip hesitates in the doorway when he enters the living room for a moment and watches them lie on the couch in front of the TV, wrapped up in each other’s arms, sleepy and content, for once neither bickering nor on the verge of fucking and he thinks that he’s never seen Ian so happy and being himself this much at the same time before.
And maybe he shakes his head when he looks at the man in his brother’s arms because holy fucking shit that’s Mickey Milkovich right there.
That’s 'someone’s gotta get a beat down’, it’s 'oh shit is right’, it’s anger issues and russian prostitutes and attempted murder and escaping prison to fucking mexico.
But it’s also the guy who pours Ian his coffee in the morning and makes sure he doesn’t drink it before he’s had something to eat, who used to count his fucking pills, who once bought a bag full of B vitamins as if they could fix it all somehow.
It’s who Ian lost sleep over, it’s who he made his best bad decisions for.
It’s Franny’s Uncle Mickey, it’s Mandy’s older brother and holy shit, it’s Ian’s fucking husband.
And isn’t that so beautifully Ian, that he saw something in that dirty faced thug from ten years ago that no one else ever bothered to look for? that he found a love that proved itself to be stronger than whatever life or fate or Terry fucking Milkovich threw at them, that pulled them back to each other every time they fell apart?
Mickey has been a constant presence in Ian’s life in a way that nothing else but Lip himself ever had. Has been a witness, a catalyst, a victim of Ian’s epic highs and lows, has done insane things to and for and because of him. As fucked up as they always were, they seem to hold the balance, they somehow make it work.
Lip loves his brother with all his heart, has done so his entire life, he knows all the best and a lot of the worst of Ian and he knows that Mickey knows it too. Loves him, too. Signed up for it all, the whole package, good times and bad, sickness and health, Monica and Gay Jesus, mania and depression. Had probably signed up for it long before they stood in front of witnesses at the Polish Doll.
So Lip smiles sometimes when they bicker over breakfast cereal or when Ian can’t keep his hands to himself even when the rest of them is right there or when Mickey talks shit like he’s still big bad Milkovich, south side thug extraordinaire and not the boy who has been in love with Lip’s little brother for the last decade.
Because it’s nice to see they made it. Because if anyone deserves a happy ending and a gentle future, it’s them.
