The 30th: A Colby Brock x Reader Story

The 30th: A Colby Brock X Reader Story

Warnings?: "Major" injury, car accident, emotional distress, medical trauma, angst, Colby dealing with grief? and helplessness.

Summary: A tragic accident changes everything, leaving Colby to grapple with the fragile line between life and death. The reader wakes up in a hospital, memories shattered, while Colby struggles with fear of almost losing them and the guilt of not being there. As they both navigate the aftermath, unanswered questions linger - what if things had been different? What if they hadn't survived..?

The Call That Changed Everything

The first thing Colby registered was how early it was for Sam to be calling him. His phone vibrated aggressively against the nightstand, its screen illuminating the dark room with an eerie glow. Groaning, he blindly reached for it, still half-asleep, pressing the phone to his ear.

"Yeah?" His voice was hoarse with sleep.

"Colby." Sam's voice was tight, urgent. "Dude, wake up. It's about-... It's about them..."

Colby sat up so fast he nearly got whiplash. What..? "What happened?"

There was silence on the other end, just a ragged inhale. That was never a good sign.

"They were in an accident," Sam finally said, voice trembling. "It- it was bad, man... You need to get to the hospital. Now."

Colby's heart plummeted to his stomach.

No. No, this couldn't be real.

His hands shook as he threw back the blankets, his feet barely touching the floor before he was moving- grabbing his keys, shoving on a hoodie, barely processing anything beyond the fact that he needed to get to you.

Because Sam's voice sounded too strained, too grief-ridden.

And that terrified him.

The drive to the hospital was a blur.

Colby wasn't sure how he even got there without crashing himself. His chest was tight, suffocating, a silent scream pressing against his throat but never making it past his lips. His fingers gripped the wheel so hard they ached.

He barely registered pulling into the parking lot.

His legs felt weak beneath him as he sprinted inside, his breath coming in short, sharp gasps. The sterile smell of the hospital burning his nostrils.

At the front desk, he practically slammed his hands down, his voice cracking as he demanded, "Where are they?"

The nurse glanced up, startled. "Sir-"

"Where the hell are they?!" His voice rose, panic lacing every word.

Recognition flickered in her eyes. "Brock, right? You're here for-"

"Yes!" He could barely hold himself together.

The nurse nodded, pressing a button on the phone beside her. "They're in the ICU. Room 217."

Colby didn't wait for any more instructions- his feet were already moving.

The halls felt like they stretched for miles, every step dragging him deeper into the suffocating weight of reality.

And then he reached your room.

And his whole world stopped.

.

.

.

Broken and Bruised

You looked so... so small.

The sight of you in that hospital bed nearly shattered him. Wired and tubes ran along your body, an IV taped to your arm. Your face was pale, your bruised and busted lips slightly parted as if caught in a restless dream. Bandages wrapped around your forehead, your arm resting in a sling. Bruises and cuts bloomed across your skin, harsh reminders of what had happened.

Colby swallowed hard, his throat burning.

He stepped closer, his knees threatening to give out. He didn't realize he was shaking until he reached for your hand, his fingers ghosting over your skin.

You were warm. Alive.

His breath hitched, relief flooding through him so fast it almost made him dizzy.

But then your eyelids fluttered.

And the second your gaze met his, he saw it- the confusion. The fear.

And worst of all- the lack of recognition.

"...Colby?" Your voice was hoarse, uncertain.

He nodded rapidly, gripping your hand tighter. "Yeah, yeah, I'm here. I'm right here, baby."

You blinked at him, your brows furrowing.

And then-

"What happened to me?"

Colby inhaled sharply. His stomach twisted.

Oh God.

You didn't remember.

It wasn't instant, the realization. It came in fragments, shattered memories slipping through your fingers like grains of sand.

The paramedics had told Sam you woke up in the ambulance, disoriented, in shock. You'd called someone -Colby- but you didn't remember.

And now, looking at him, it was clear that your brain had blurred everything into static.

Colby forced a smile, even as his heart fractured. "You, uh... you got into an accident, baby.."

Your breath hitched, panic creeping in. "I don't-" Your hand trembled in his. "I don't remember."

His gut twisted.

"It's okay," he murmured. "You're safe now."

But God, nothing about this felt safe.

Because the fear in your eyes was something he had never seen before.

And he didn't know how to fix it.

.

.

.

The Weight of What-Ifs

The days that followed were agonizing.

Colby refused to leave your side, even when nurses gently suggested he get some rest. He couldn't. Not when you kept waking up in a panic, not when you flinched at shadows of memories that refused to return.

And then there were the what-ifs.

They haunted him.

What if it happened to you on a different day?

On a bridge, where there wasn't a rail in the way?

Or a neighborhood street where the little kids played?

What if you weren't alone? There were kids in the car?

What if you were remote? No one knows where you are

If you changed anything, would you not have survived?!

Colby couldn't stop spiraling.

You had survived. But just barely.

And that terrified him more than anything.

The hospital room was quiet, save for the steady beep of the heart monitor and the distant murmur of voices in the hallway.

Colby sat in the chair beside your bed, elbows on his knees, hands clasped together so tightly his knuckles had turned white. His head hung low, dark hair falling into his eyes, but he wasn't crying.

He'd done enough of that in the past twenty-four hours.

Instead, he just stared- at you, at the bruises, at the faint rise and fall of your chest, proof that you were still here. That he hadn't lost you.

But God, it had been close.

Sam had tried to get him to go home earlier, even offered to drive him, but Colby had barely acknowledged him. He couldn't leave. Not yet.

Not when every time he closed his eyes, he saw the wreck.

He hadn't even been there, hadn't seen the twisted metal or the shattered glass, but his mind had painted the picture anyways, cruelly vivid. He saw you lying there in the wreckage, unconscious, broken, alone.

And it made him sick.

A shuddering breath escaped him as he finally lifted his gaze, studying your face.

Your head was turned slightly toward him, your cheek resting against the pillow. There was a small crest between your brows, like your body still remembered the pain even in sleep. The bruises along your temple darkened overnight, spreading like ink beneath your skin.

You looked fragile.

And Colby hated that.

He wanted to hold you, to tell you it was over, that you were safe, but the words felt empty when he couldn't even promise you'd be okay.

Because you didn't remember.

You didn't remember the crash.

You didn't remember calling him, your voice weak and trembling through the phone.

.

.

.

Okay, I'm tired, my hands hurt, and I've lost motivation. Sooo- if this gets attention and people like it I'll continue it another day, if not, you're stuck on this- Bye bye.

Kat: I told Colby that his ears turn red when he lies.

Stas: Do they?

Kat: No.

Stas: Then why did you tell him that?

Kat: Because I can do this.

Kat: Hey Colby! Do you love us?

Colby, covering his ears: No.

Heartbreak Hotel|| Colby Brock

A/N This is something I wrote when I had been rejected by someone who I really liked, I just let my feeling flow and I thought you guys might enjoy reading this. Also everything that is in bold is something that I thought about saying/did say during that situation.

-------------------------------------------------

“Hey Devyn, what’s up?’’ I asked as I picked up my phone.

“I was wondering if you wanted to come to the trap house and a have a girls night with me, cassie, tara, and kat?’’ She asked through the phone.

“Sure, let me just get some things together and I’ll be there.’’ I replied.

“Okay, see you soon.’’ She said before she hung up.

I quickly got a small overnight bag together with everything I would need and then I left my apartment, got into my car, and started making my way to the trap house. It didn’t take me long to get there so I got out of my car and texted Devyn that I was here and she quickly came and let me in.

“Hey Hads.’’ She said smiling at me.

“Hey.’’ I said smiling back at her.

I walked in and suddenly the memories hit me, the thing was that I hadn’t been to this house in a long time, not since Colby rejected me.

“Hey Colby, can we talk please?’’ I asked as he was sitting in the living room with Kat and Sam.

“Sure.’’ He said giving me a smile.

Once we got to a more private place to talk I looked away from him and tried to calm myself down.

“What’s up?” He asked.

“Okay so umm I kinda like you and I haven’t been wanting to tell you for the fear that you’ll hate me or something stupid like that, but I can’t seem to get over it and I don’t know what to do.’’ I said looking down.

“Oh, Hadleigh-’’ Colby started but I could tell where it was going so I cut him off.

“It’s okay, I’m used to rejection.” I said with tears brimming my eyes.

“I’m sorry.’’ He said. I could tell he was actually sorry but I let my emotions speak for me.

“Funny you say you're sorry for rejecting me, yet i’m the one who is currently in tears” I said as the tears fell.

“Hadleigh-’’ Colby said, trying to reach out for me but I stepped away from him and made my way back to where Kat and Sam were.

They both looked up at me and had questioning looks on their faces but I didn’t say anything other than goodbye before I made my way out to my car. I quickly drove off, but my tears were making it hard to see anything so I pulled over to the side of the road and had a mini breakdown.

“God fuck you for hurting me.’’ I said to no one but myself

Before the memory could take me anywhere else I was pulled into a hug by Devyn who just gave me a knowing look.

“I know it’s hard, but we are going to be in my room the entire night and you guys won’t have to see each other.’’ She said, giving me a comforting squeeze.

“I’m okay, it just hit me like a ton of bricks.’’ I breathed out as we made our way up to her room.

“I know.’’ She said, giving me a small smile.

“Anyway let’s get this girls night started.’’ I said changing the subject.

“Yes!” Devyn exclaimed.

The thing is when we got to her room the girls weren’t in there, only one person, the one person who hurt me. I turned around the leave but Deyvn pushed me forward as if she was forcing us to talk.

“Neither of you guys can leave this room until you talk, I am sick of seeing you cry Hadleigh.’’ Devyn said from behind the door.

“She’s right, we need to talk.’’ Colby spoke up.

“Sorry I wasn’t good enough. I guess it’s my best trait.’’ I said. I wasn’t in the mood to make things right. Right now I need to wallow in the heartbreak because it only makes you stronger.

“Hadleigh don’t say that.’’ Colby said.

“Well, why else did you reject me?’’ I snapped, I quickly regretted it but there was nothing I could do now.

“Why does it sound like you hate me?’’ He snapped back. I didn’t know what to say so we both just sat there in silence for a bit.

“I don’t hate you for rejecting me. I hate myself for thinking I had a chance with you, I hate myself for falling for you. I hate myself for the pain I am going through without you right now” I said after a moment of silence.

“I should be mad at you, but I just can’t make myself do that.’’ I added. It was obvious that I still didn’t hate him after all of this.

“Hads, you are going to have so many chances to fall in love with someone who will love you for everything you are.’’ Colby said walking close to me which caused me to take three steps back.

“Yeah I’m gonna have so many chances to fall in love so why can’t I get over you?’’ I questioned.

“I don’t know.’’ He replied.

“Neither do I. If I did I wouldn’t be so broken and hurt right now. I mean why did I fall for you in the first place when all you do is hurt me?’’ I said laughing bitterly.

“I wish I knew, I may not have those kind of feelings for you, but I still consider you to be a good friend and I never want to see you hurt.’’ He said trying to reach for me again but I shook my head at him.

“Colby don’t. You don’t even know how much pain I am going through right now like sure, depression sucks and it’s something I would never want to go through, but right now I would pick that over going through heartbreak” I said as the tears started falling again.

“Please stop trying to fix this. I’ll be fine, but not any time soon. I need to wallow in this for as long as I can because I know it’s only going to make me stronger in the end. Now if you will excuse me I am going to go.’’ I said before turning and walking out of Devyn’s room.

I didn’t bother to stay and talk about what just happened. I couldn’t even blame Devyn and whoever else for doing this. I know they were just looking out for me and trying to make me feel better. When I got in my car I just sat there for a second going over everything and wondering what I did wrong to make him not feel the same way about me.

“Heartbreak Hotel, room for one.’’ I mumbled as I pulled out of the driveway. I knew that I needed to get far away from all of this for a second and so without looking back I went to my apartment, packed a bag, and booked a plane ticket.

HELLO!

I’m so sorry I’ve been kinda MIA. I tend to fall back from social media when I’m going through stressful shit, but I promise I’m not abandoning this by any means. I’ve got two fics in the works right now, per request, but you are more than free to send in more suggestions! I love getting them. It makes me more motivated to write. 🖤

I loveeeeee your writing! I was wondering if you could write Colby helping y/n through a panic attack. Whether it’s something that happens during an investigation or something different. Maybe they are very sensitive and emotional and something pushes them over the edge. Just anything you want ❤️ you are the best. I have a hard time finding good Colby writing and yours is amazing!

I’d love to write this for you! I’m sorry if I’m responding to this a bit late, life has thrown some curve balls lately, but I’m still here! Thank you for being so sweet, oh my god. I can get a little self conscious about my writing sometimes but I’m so glad you like it! 🖤

The snc fandom…

The Twitter side of the snc fandom is truly why I don’t consider myself “part of the fandom”. I’ve never seen a group of fans complain and dog SO DAMN MUCH on the same people they claim to be fans of, it’s kind of insane. That also includes any and every person they hang out with.

Y’all do not know these men. Being a fan doesn’t give you the right to act entitled to every aspect of their personal lives and their reasoning behind everything they do outside of social media and their jobs. “These girls are corrupting Sam and Colby! They are being used and they have no idea!” Please, respectfully, shut the fuck up! They are GROWN ASS MEN. They can think and act for themselves.

These deep dives into their supposed personal struggles and issues are very bizarre and is giving unhealthy parasocial relationship. Some of you spend way too much time and energy psychoanalyzing what the boys do. I promise, you’d be much less stressed and angry if you just didn’t care so fucking much. Because they do not owe us anything. They can and will do whatever they want in their lives and that’s NONE OF OUR BUSINESS.

I’m just getting real tired of the entitled energy, the anger, the constant shit talking. Like, god damn.

𝑯𝑬𝑨𝑽𝑬𝑵𝑳𝒀.

#request: colby and reader go on their very first official date.

no warnings, no explicit content. just lots and lots of tension and fluff!

This wasn’t something you’d been expecting. Least from Colby most of all. You’d met a while back through mutual friends and the more you got to know him, the more you became infatuated. But you’d always deemed it impossible. Unreachable. Unattainable. You’d seen a few other women come and go and knew, even though it was never explicitly stated, that they were there for Colby.

It’s not like you had any right to be jealous or upset. You two were friends, nothing more. So when he randomly asked you out on a date the other night while the two of you lounged lazily on the sofa — not even glancing up from his phone as he spoke, you were left feeling like a deer in headlights.

It was completely out of left field, especially considering he’d never actually flirted with you. Not once, at least that you could recall.

But to say you were nervous would be a massive understatement. You could feel your hands trembling as you fought to get your eyeliner to match. Your heart pounded like a chorus of drums as you searched through your closet for the perfect outfit. Your stomach twisted in knots as that one little text message pinged on your phone.

i’m outside x

Oh god, just don’t throw up. Don’t throw up.

You took in a heavy, shaky breath of air as you snatched your keys and headed for the front door. Pulling it closed behind you as you stepped out into the cool Las Vegas air.

His car was parked near the far end of the driveway, the shadow of his frame visible from where you stood and you could already feel a lump forming in the back of your throat. It wasn’t a negative feeling, by any means. But you were still incredibly taken aback. Stunned. All of it was so out of left field, you thought maybe this was some cruel dream and you’d wake up any minute now.

This was your friend, for crying out loud. Your FRIEND, Colby Brock. Someone you hung out with on a regular basis. Why did you suddenly feel so nervous just from the mere thought of getting in the car with him? Sitting so dangerously close; why did that make your heart skip a beat as if you’ve never been in the car with him plenty of times before?

You reached out and pulled the passenger car door open, sliding in with a smile that you hoped wouldn’t give away just how flustered you actually were. Colby’s smile seemed to match yours, though, wide and bright.

“There she is!” He chimed as he turned his attention more towards you, head on, one hand still perched on the steering wheel.

You didn’t realize just how shaky you actually were until you reached to pull the seat belt across your chest and lock it in, letting out a soft giggle in an attempt to mask it the best you could.

Colby visibly trailed his gaze from your face down the length of your frame, and back up again. Not even trying to hide it. “You look pretty.”

The weight of his eyes on you had the heat pooling beneath the skin of your cheeks, painting them bright pink. This was such a stark contrast to how he usually interacted with you and it was throwing you for a loop.

“Thank you,” you mumbled softly, biting down on your lower lip. “You look really nice too.”

He looked incredibly good — dressed clad in his faux leather black pants with that silver chain dangling from his hip, and a black t-shirt with a spider web design intricately displayed across the front. Colby was probably the most handsome boy you’d ever met, but you’d never openly admitted that anyone. Not even yourself, entirely.

You blinked, shifting in your seat a little bit as you watched him turn back towards the wheel. Switching the gear from park to drive and pulling out onto the road with a swift maneuver. “So, where are we going exactly?”

Colby kept his eyes on the road even as he curled his lips up into a smirk.

“Remember when you told me not that long ago, that you thought for sure you’d be able to beat me at Mario kart?”

You narrowed your eyes and gave a slow nod of your head, clasping your hands together in your lap. “Yeah, I remember. Why?”

He shot you a quick glance, a mischievous one, before focusing back on the road ahead of him.

“Figured I’d put that theory to the test,” Colby spoke as he reached to switch his blinker on, turning into a large parking lot as he couldn’t help but to chuckle.

Before you even had the opportunity to ask what he meant, your eyes landed on the large building in front of you and that’s when it clicked in your head.

You raised your brows as a smile tugged at your features. “Dave & Busters?!”

Colby couldn’t hide the faint blush painting his cheeks even if he tried, flashing a sheepish smile as he nodded his head.

“Yeah, why not?” You didn’t even register the way he reached his hand out and hooked his index finger right underneath your chin, leaning in so he was closer than before. “Come on, show me what you got.”

Was he trying to kill you or what? Because god, you were already seconds away from death at this point. Both of you got out of the car and walked inside, paying for two game cards that would allow you to play as many games as you wanted for at least an hour.

You were immediately pulled over towards skeeball, waving your hands up in defeat before you’d even started. You and balls? Definitely didn’t go hand in hand. Pun not entirely intended. Colby rolled his eyes and gripped your wrist, placing you right in front of him as he scanned his card in the machine.

“I’m terrible at these!”

Colby merely chuckled and you immediately felt the warm puff of his breath against the back of your neck, sending a shiver shooting up your spine. “Just aim down the middle, and throw it hard.”

You were hesitant, but grabbed one of the heavy metal balls anyway. A larger hand seemed to wrap around yours and help guide your arm back, cheeks flushing bright red as he gave a quick push and you threw the ball forward. It rolled and rolled and only ended up landed in the 10 point slot, but that was still significantly better than you’d been expecting of yourself.

“See? There you go!” He cheered you on, stepping to the side so he could grab a ball himself and aim it down the middle of the ramp.

Your eyes followed as it tilted upward and landed in the 20 point slot, earning a wide grin and an enthusiastic clap from Colby. It wasn’t long before you were whisked away to another game — this time it was Mario kart. The one he’d brought you here for to begin with.

You climbed into the seat next to him, watched him scan the card once more, and immediately went to pick your favorite character — Princess Daisy. Colby seemed to go for king boo, which was extremely fitting, and you couldn’t help but to smile.

“You’re going down, Brock,” you egged him on as you decided to be a little bit bold and flash him a quick wink.

It definitely didn’t go unnoticed, because you saw the faint glow of red flush to his cheeks and you hoped to god it was because of you and not the arcade lights hanging from above.

Colby rolled his eyes and pressed the start button, hands gripping the fake steering wheel tightly. “We’ll see about that, pretty girl.”

You were so caught up in the whirlwind of butterflies swarming your stomach that you didn’t even realize the race had already started, blinking furiously as you quickly hit the gas pedal and tried to catch up.

“Fuck!”

Colby let out a loud laugh as he twisted and turned the steering wheel in every which direction he could, fighting to maintain his spot in first place. You were definitely struggling, but you were slowly gaining traction and getting closer to closer to Colby, eventually ending up right on his tail on the third and final lap of the race.

Colby quickly looked over, panic written across his face. “No no no!”

You both were so damn close to the finish line, wheel to wheel at this point, and within the last second you were able to cross that line within an inch of him. Immediately throwing your hands up in celebration.

“HA! I got you, I got you!”

Colby let his head fall back against the chair, a defeated little sigh escaping from the back of his throat before he turned to look at you, smiling sheepishly. And truly, it was the cutest smile you’d ever seen. He was so pretty, so cute, so —

He had pushed himself up from his seat and leaned forward, hand resting on the back of yours so he could balance himself and not completely crush your underneath him. It took you a second to fully register what was happening when you felt soft, gentle lips press against your own in a sudden kiss. The hairs on the back of your neck stood up and your heart pounded so fast, you thought for certain it was going to burst right out of your chest.

You could even feel him smiling against your mouth and the sound that rumbled from deep within him — the lowest, most subtle hum, had you seeing stars. He tasted absolutely heavenly, too.

Just as quickly as it had happened, it was over. You swallowed, unable to get yourself to speak as you stared wide eyed back at Colby. He reached his free hand down and lightly swiped the pad of his thumb across your lower lip, eventually standing back up straight and stuffing his hands into his pockets.

“The food’s kind of overpriced here. How about we head back to the house and order in some pizza? Sound good?”

“I —” it was impossible not to stutter. You were dazed and confused in the best fucking way. And he knew it, too. “Yeah, actually. I like that idea.”

You had gone back home with Colby many times before. Many nights were spend at the Vegas house with him and Sam. But there had always been other friends, other girls. This time, though, this invitation felt so different to any of those other nights. Because there was no way you were going back as just friends. Not anymore.

And you were completely and totally cool with that.

Hello! Could you write an imagine where y/n is curvier and Colby sees her dancing/working out, taking care of her health and finds it attractive? And he's super proud of her. Maybe they even workout together and he posts about it? (This imagine would be my motivation to keep taking care of my health lol)

yes yes! I like this idea a lot, cause I need motivation to work out as well. If I got to work out with Colby and he thought it was attractive, I’d be the most in shape person in the entire world LMAO.

𝑺𝑳𝑬𝑬𝑷𝑻𝑨𝑳𝑲.

𝑺𝑳𝑬𝑬𝑷𝑻𝑨𝑳𝑲.

#request : fem!reader has an alcoholic/abusive father and finds comfort in colby.

CONTENT WARNING❕implied abuse, mentions of alcoholism.

fluff and angst, with a sprinkle of angry colby if you squint. this is on the longer side, so get comfy.

There was a limit to how much you could take, and god, you were creeping up on it a little too quickly. The yelling, screaming, broken beer bottles and the numerous dents and holes in the drywall, all of it was piling up and you could feel yourself starting to crack.

Losing your job a few months ago forced you to move back home, something you were trying to avoid at all costs. But you had been left with no choice, despite knowing exactly how your father was. Especially when he had a few drinks in his system.

And tonight was especially bad.

Your father wasn’t alone — having invited a few of his work buddies to watch a late night football game. Drinks inevitably in hand. The yelling became louder and louder as it dragged on, his frustrations over his team losing ultimately getting taken out on you.

It got to the point where you were afraid to even set foot out of your bedroom, catching wind of the crude and nasty whispers he’d exchange with his friends when he didn’t think you could hear. Specifically pertaining to you.

You’d finally had it.

You were hungry, tired, and needed to get out of this environment before you lost what was left of your sanity. You slipped into a simple pair of sleep shorts and a worn out, oversized tee before grabbing your phone and car keys.

“Where you think you’re going?” Your father slurred as he noticed you making a beeline down the hallway.

Giving a roll of your eyes, you mumbled, “out.”

Despite being wobbly and uncoordinated on his feet, he still managed to get up and slide right in front of you. Towering over your much smaller frame. Intimidation was his biggest weapon against you.

“I don’t think so.”

You stared up at him, feet planted where they were. You had no intention of moving or backing down, not this time. Your defiance seemed to earn a nasty snarl and curl of his upper lip, scoffing as he glanced over at his friends on the sofa. Both of their mouths twitching up into a smirk that mirrored his.

“I’m going to see a friend. Please move.”

The silence was deafening as he pressed even closer, a silent threat that he could easily lay hands on you if he wanted. And you knew he wanted to. But he didn’t, surprisingly. With a wrinkle of his nose, he pulled back and stumbled into the living room once more.

You took the opportunity to rush right out the front door and down the driveway, sliding into your car as you let out a shaky breath. It was hard to concentrate on driving as you gripped the steering wheel so hard your knuckles were painted white. Ears ringing and heart thumping so hard you thought it might burst right out of your chest.

Not even thinking of where you were going, you weren’t entirelt surprised to find yourself pulling up into Colby’s driveway. Parking and switching the engine off, you marched right up to the front door and knocked rapidly. Hoping to god he’d answer.

And he did.

The door swung open and a confused Colby peered out towards you, eyes blinking as his lips curled into a soft smile.

“Hey! What’re you—” he paused mid sentence once he noticed the look on your face, smile dropping as he opened the door even wider.

Your bottom lip began to quiver and within a split second, you felt your resolve crumbling. The dam splitting open and wave after wave crashing through the narrow channel of your emotional walls. Tears flooded your eyes and already started rolling down your cheeks.

Colby stepped forward and reached out with a gentle hand, placing it at the curve of your jaw.

“Whoa, what’s wrong?”

His voice was low, but sweet as each word dripped fron the tip of his tongue. You gave a halfhearted shrug of your shoulders as you kept your gaze down at your feet. “My dad.”

Something in him switched and you could feel the tension bubble up, his own jaw clenching tightly. He was incredibly protective of you and always had been, especially when it came to your father.

“Did he hurt you, y/n?” It was less of a question and more of a subtle demand for an answer. Because god only knows if you were to say yes, he’d be gone in a flash. Seething and see nothing put pure, hellish red.

You were quick to shake your head, looking up at him through your teared stained lashes. And before either of you said anything more, he wrapped an arm around the small of your back and ushered you into the house. Closing the door behind him.

He pulled you along with him towards the sofa in the large living room, sitting down beside you as he let out a soft, mournful little sigh. “What happened? Talk to me.”

You leaned back into the cushions, pulling your knees up to your chest as your arms wrapped tightly around them.

“It’s suffocating. I can’t fucking do it anymore. His drinking is getting even worse, and it’s not just him. It’s his friends, too.”

Colby’s eyes were glued to you, bright blue burning holes into your skin.

His hand, fingers decorated with the silver rings he always loved to wear, reached out and gently wiped away the lingering tears that were resting just below your lashes. You instinctively leaned right in to his touch, eyes fluttering closed only for a moment before they peeked back open again.

“Stay for the night. Sam’s already asleep and I’m wide awake, I could use the company.”

It was impossible not to smile at the idea of him wanting your company. And you absolutely loved spending time with him, perhaps a little more than you’d ever openly admit to his face. “Really?”

Colby raised his brows, chuckling softly as he nodded in respond.

“Hell yeah, it’s been a while since we properly hung out anyway,” he mentioned as he pushed up from the sofa, holding out both his hands towards you as he wiggled his fingers expectantly.

With a playful roll of your eyes, your placed your hands within his and let him pull you up. There was a brief moment where you felt uncharacteristically close to him, tip of your nose only centimeters from touching his. You could feel the soft puff of his breath against your mouth, heart skipping a beat as it kicked up a notch in rhythm.

You wondered if he felt it too, if his own heart was pounding like yours was. And that was when you realized he still hadn’t let go of your hands. You gave them a squeeze, to which he eagerly returned. Head suddenly leaned down to ghost his lips across the edge of your jawline.

That was certainly unexpected.

“What do you say….” Colby began with a whisper into your ear, slowly pulling away. “What do you say we get comfortable and pick a movie, hm? There’s leftover pizza in the fridge, too.”

Your head lulled backwards as he started to pull you towards the staircase, still not letting go of your hands even as your arms were stretched out in front of you. Lips forming a wide, ear to ear smile as you finally gave in.

“Okay, okay. Is it pepperoni?”

He bit down on his lower lip, letting go of your hands as he rubbed his own together in a cute display of excitement. “With the stuffed crust, too. I’ll heat up a couple of slices, YOU go get comfortable.”

You watched as he sauntered over towards the kitchen, turning on your heels as you called out softly at the last minute.

“Colby?”

He stopped in his tracks, peeking around the corner of the wall with that innocent sparkle radiating from his bright blue eyes. The one you adored so incredibly much.

Your stomach fluttered with a million tiny butterflies the moment you two made eye contact again, struggling to find the proper words in the haze of your own feelings.

“Thank you for, you know…”

He didn’t say a word, he simply hurried back over towards you and hooked his finger underneath your chin, tilting your head up and planting a tender, quick kiss right to the center of your lips. Tongue poking out to trace along his own top one, as if he were savoring the way you tasted once you two broke apart.

“It’s what I’m here for, right?” One last smile and he finally disappeared off into the kitchen.

You let out a breath you didn’t realize you’d been holding in, mind reeling as you were left dizzy and infatuated. This was already a much better night than you’d planned it to be.

Hi! Could I request a Colby imagine where the reader has an abusive/alcoholic father and Colby helps her? Either calls her or she stays at his for a while? I hope this isn't too intense/traumatic. If you'd be up to write it, I'd like a mixture of fluff and angst. Thank you!

sure! I love protective colby, mixing fluff and angst is always fun to write. I’ll try to get it up and posted by tonight :)
