I don’t know why, but @rebellingstagnationblog interpretation of Negaduck and Gosalyn’s relationship reminds me of Maleficent and Aurora’s in the Maleficent movie, except more badass.

Maleficent and Negaduck, villains, are hardened by trauma and pain caused by other. They are unwilling to love again until a spunky girl young girls come into their lives and change them for the better.

I always found it so sweet that Negaduck has a soft spot for Gosalyn and how it develops throughout the story. It’s inspired me to try writing Darkwing stories, specifically one revolving around Negaduck and Nega-Gosalyn’s relationship. I hope to share it with you guys one day.

Hello and thank you so much for the Ask! While I can’t think of any one story that inspired my Demon original characters, in my notes from 1/31/22 just over one year ago, I reference a few movies as story and place inspirations: Maleficent, Legend (1985), and The Last Unicorn. I’d written a little over 1k of a story, inspired by the dark and romantic lyrics of the song “The Killing Moon”, about a demon Thrawn who finds a teenage girl, Elise (female Eli) in the forest, captures and seduces her, then takes her to the Black Fortress as an offering to the evil Demon King there (demon Emperor Palpatine), but in the last minute lets Elise escape from the rest of the demons and he is imprisoned. Elise helps him escape his prison cell, but she is severely injured and near death as he flies her away from the Fortress. So there are several elements of that story that DID end up becoming part of Rakul, but that specific story is one of my few truly abandoned ideas. And it was reborn into Rakul and the sequel to Rakul, which will feature demon Thrawn and demon Thrass, as well as Elise as female Eli once again (which is at least half written, but the exact ending point is undetermined at the moment). That sequel was begun on Feb. 2, 2022, and the first chapter of Rakul was begun Feb. 23, 2022 and published on AO3 2/25/22. Anyway, most of the inspiration for all of these stories was simply some dark song lyrics and a certain mood. I actually didn’t start reading a lot of romance novels until later in 2022, and I actually haven’t read any demon stories like mine before, so there isn’t any specific novel I could recommend that inspired my demons unfortunately.

Honestly, as tropey and lazy as this season is, this arc is so fun because it’s basically mean (lesbian) women making fun of Rumpelstiltskin to his face. I also adore the scenes in which he is talking to a woman who is taller than him - the fact that Anna was taller makes my day. Can you tell that I love the fact that he’s short? It kind of validates me as a short fellow myself.

the queens of darkness arc is a lot more entertaining if you view it in the perspective that they used to be couples who went on double dates but now they've both broken up and have to spend time together for work.

I did the timeline and apparently the time period Red and Chloe go back to is around 1980s (ignore the 70s in the top left) I didn’t do much with Uliana because I think her design is actually really good, I made Hades a little more Disney accurate. I did the same with Maleficent, I wasn’t sure if, in the movie they made her horns just an odd hair style so I was gonna get rid of that but I remembered in the song ‘just like me’ she recounts that she was insecure so I think it would make sense if she wrapped her horns in her hair.

Hook design is actually perfect, I was gonna add his little moustache but then remembered he was 16 ☹️ so no moustache now. I HATED Morgie’s hair so I gave him a 80s blowout😜✋.

Honestly, nobody had any idea how it happened. You were Ariel's sister. He was a pirate. How in the world did you manage to end up together?!

Well... truth to be told... it happened so suddenly, just like when the storm in the middle of the sea happens. Nobody really expects it, but it arrives it crashes you with its whole might. Leaving you breathless.

It was a normal, sunny day when you met him. You were walking down the corridor, just trying to get to Merlin's class. Clutching your book in your hands, you found yourself outside as you came face to face with Hook. In the middle of the courtyard. All alone. His back was turned to you, and with that finding, you felt the sigh of relief leave your body pass your lips. It doesn't matter, you thought to yourself. So you decided to keep walking. You did not want to be late to class.

But it seems like the luck wasn't on your side that day. He turned around and walked up to you as he yelled out.

"Ahoy there, mermaid!" He smirked as your eyes met. "Skipping class again, I see. What's your excuse this time? Lost your voice singing to the fishes?"

James Hook, now leaning against a stone pillar, hook on his right hand and a mischievous glint in his eyes as his eyes scanned you.

"Hook, I unline you, am actually trying to now get there in time." You rolled your eyes at his teasing but decided that maybe it was time for you to finally tease him back a bit. "But don't worry, I've got a treasure map to Merlin's class. Care to actually join me?"

You saw a little tint of blush forming on his face, but you must have imagined it. And just as you thought that this would be the end of your conversation, he did something that left you stunned.

"Merlin's class? That's the real curse of Neverland. But I'd follow you anywhere, little mermaid." He gave you a wink, smirking.

You found yourself blushing, but no... it... it can't be. Luckily, you quickly regained your composure and continued your, playful, rivalry banter.

"You know, pirate, I've heard rumors about your hook. Is it true you lost it in a duel with a giant squid?" You leaned over closer to him.

"Aye, but it wasn't just any squid—it was the one that stole my heart." He smirked as he leaned down, closer to your face. "But now, here I am, a one-handed pirate with a penchant for trouble and a weakness for mermaid smiles."

You found yourself laughing at his flirting. You couldn't help it, it was just so... so endearing.

"Well, Captain, I've got a secret too." You said, with a little smirk planted on your face. "I've hidden my voice in a shell. Only the right kiss can unlock it. Interested?"

And so you did that for a while until you two were actually late for Merlin's class. You walked in, and Hook did not. But there was no way that you would admit to anyone, even your friends, why you walked into the class flushed, cheeks pink, with a stupid smile on your face.

You do, of course, realize that this was a bit abnormal. He was a pirate and part of Uliana's crew. You were a mermaid princess, daughter of the Triton himself. It was not normal, but as the days passed and what was a true rivalry, banter turned into just pure flirting, you found yourself not really caring.

As weeks passed and the flirting continued, somehow, you found yourself having a pirate boyfriend. After all of that, Hook and you started dating. Somehow.

And it was better than you ever expected it to be. You sometimes felt like, outside of Uliana's crew, you were the only one that he was nice to. It was... perplexing. But you loved it.

However, you both agreed that you should keep your relationship a secret for a while for both of your sakes. You weren't dumb. You both knew how your friends would react if you told them that you were dating. So that's how it all started. Secret stolen glances when nobody was looking, passing notes in class, stolen kisses when you were all alone, and, of course, flirty teasing banter.

That's how you found yourself, pressed against a tree in the school's courtyard, Hook with his hand by your head, his hook under your chin, trapping you.

"You're a siren in a landlocked school." He spoke, looking into your eyes. "Your voice could raise sunken ships, and your smile—well, that's my undoing."

"Tell me, Hook, do you ever dream of flying?" You asked as you started to trace your finger along his hook. "Not in a ship, but with wings made of stardust?"

He looked at you, captivated.

"Every night, my dear. And in my dreams, you're the compass guiding me through constellations." He leaned down towards you, your lips almost meating until something happened. Something that would change this forever.

"Hook!!" The terrifyingly hight and mighty voice rang out along the school courtyard.

You both turned around and froze as you came face to face with Uliana, Hades, Maleficent and a few more people that joined the courtyard when they heard yelling.

"But reality has a way of clipping my wings." Hook sighed as he moved away from you slowly, your heart speading up and breaking at the same time.

"Are you out of your mind?!" Uliana screamed. "What are you doing with a mermaid?!"

That's when you noticed something. Yes, Hook moved away from you, but his hand with his hook that was under your chin was now placed on your waist, still holding you close to him.

"Calm down, Uliana." Hook spoke up, looking at him.

"Calm down?!" Uliana yelled, absolutely fuming. "Are you seriously telling me to calm down right now?!"

"Yes." Hook said, "Yes, I am."

"Don't play games with me, Hook." She threatened before throwing a glance your way, smirking as she plotted against you. "If you don't stop doing whatever you're doing with this one, you will no longer be a part of my crew."

A moment of science was heard around the courtyard, and you know that it was over. He couldn't give up on his crew, and you most certainly did not want him to, so that means that your relationship has reached its inevitable end. Your heart was breaking as you looked on the ground, slowly moving away from Hook.

"You won't do that." He spoke up, his voice strong, ringing out. "We won't end our relationship." He turned to you and brought you closer to him once again, smiling at you before turning to Uliana with a determined look.

"You know that you need me whether you liked it or not. So, no, you won't throw me away from the rest of the crew. And even if you do, it doesn't matter. I still have her, and that is something that nothing will be able to change." He spoke as her face was formed into pure shock.

"So good day." He sarcastically bowed before he ruined around with you and walked away.

"Don't worry, she'll come around." You looked at him. "Maybe..."

"I honestly don't really care." He shrugged, his eyes ringing with truth. "I have you now, little mermaid, that's all I need and so much more, really."

there's an interesting historical reference to a poem (that is somewhat similar to the original sleeping beauty fairy tales) in diasomnia chapter 4 main story that i wanted to yap about

I translated the Main Story Book 7 Chapter 4 Ep 63 (which is posted on my tl account over here) when it was first released, and looking back on it now, i realized that there's this part that hasn't been talked about(?) (or maybe i'm just out of the loop now LOL).

But basically there's this part where baul and lilia explains that they were going to 野ばら城 (which i translated as Wild Rose Castle) to deliver a message to Queen Maleanor, Malleus' mother.

If we break down the meaning of each character:

• "野" ("の/no") means "wild,"

• ばら ("bara") means "rose,"

• while "城" ("shiro") is just the word for "castle";

Thus, I translated 野ばら城 to 'Wild Rose Castle.'

HOWEVER. 野ばら on its own is also the Japanese translation of Goethe's poem, "Heidenröslein," which is a story about a young man who decides to pluck a small rose on the heath despite the rose's warning that she will stick him with her thorn. Here is a screenshot of a summary of the poem's text from its wiki page.

I think it's an extremely interesting choice on the Twst writers' end to choose this specific word as the name for Maleanor's castle since if you just wanted to search up an actual wild rose, you would have to type 野バラ instead (using the katakana バラ as it's the more common way to type the word 'rose' in Japanese).

Plus, taking into account the message behind Heidenröslein, I can't help but recall the actual Sleeping Beauty fairy tale AND the Maleficent (2014) movie. (Angelina Jolie herself said that Henry betraying Maleficent's trust and love just to take away her wings is like an allegory to rape).

What does it mean for Twst lore?

Well, nothing much, really. Since they never touched on this topic again after Silver and the guys left Lilia's dream 😔. We'll have to wait until Heartslabyul dreams are over until we get new lore drops related to Diasomnia, but I just found this as an interesting etymology that I wanted to share! It also just shows the detail that the writers put into writing the main story as they reference content somewhat related to the stories where the characters are twisted from.

(I like to yap about twst lore so follow me if you want to see more of that + i'm in dire need of friends </3)

Bueno , esta es evidente , Maléfica es francamente más desgraciada aquí, combinando un poco su historia con los live acción, tenemos a esta villana siendo traicionada por su hija adoptiva, tras años de resentimiento hacia los humanos, tras tener a Mal , lo que ella quería era una niña , que fuera tan dulce como Aurora, pero leal a ella, solo para resultar en un niño con pelo azul y un gran parecido al patético con complejo de dios , dejando a su hijo como un mal recuerdo, pero buscando hacerlo " fuerte "

Por otro lado , Hades es un dios que siempre vivió a la sombra de si hermano , con un trauma con su padre, decidió que no estaba listo para la paternidad... cosa que decidió una vez ya había tenido un hijo , pensando que era mejor alejarse de Mal , pero con la llegada de Hadie (aquí una niña ), pues digamos que el destino ya no le pregunto sobre sus Daddy issues, pero eso genero que Mal le recintiera , pues cuido a la niña , mientras a el lo abandonó con Maléfica, lo cual básicamente lo volvería el peor hermano mayor de la isla , también cabe decir que Mal parece ser más Hada , que dios , pero Hadie, aún con su padre atrapado en su forma mortal , parece ser mas diosa que otros semidioses, pudiendo ver fantasmas aún con la barrera

Evan ( Evie )

Por otro lado tenemos a Evan , la reina malvada fue criada para pensar que la belleza es clave para tu final feliz, y aún si amaba a Evan , la verdad es que su cuidado extremo a su apariencia, lo termino volviendo un desastre lleno de trastornos alimenticios, pero eso no quita que tiene mamitis, pues sabe su madre solo quería que sobreviviera, aún a si , no quita que el fue producto de la búsqueda de un hijo más hermoso que Blancanieves, producto del hombre más apuesto e idiota que Evan pudo encontrar

Ahora, hablemos de Gaston , ninguno de los 2 sabe de su relación, nadie de la isla ... pues mucho no se parecen , pero no quita que fueron sus genes ,más los de la reina , que volverían a Evan en el más hermoso de todos , pero aún a si, Gaston no es fan de que el chico afeminado sea más popular que sus propios hijos , ni los gemelos son tan lindos con el , posiblemente la única persona que no despreciaria a Evan , sea Ginny , aunque francamente, no seria raro pensar que Gaston prefiriera volver a Evan " el macho más macho entre los machos", que demostrarle amor a su hija

Jade no pasó sus primeros años con Jafar, ella aprendió a robar de su madre , Sadira sin magia , sobreviviendo en la isla con una niña pequeña, tuvo que volver a sus viejas costumbres, enseñando a su hija a robar, más lamentablemente, la violencia de la isla cobró una víctima, Jade paso quien sabe cuánto tiempo sola ,hasta que cierto chico hada ma encontró , ayudándole a dar con su padre

Jafar por otro lado, no sabia que su aventura con otra de las pocas villanas de su tierra natal , había dado frutos en una niña ,una muy buena ladrona , Jafar si ama a Jade , pero lamentablemente, siempre le recalco a su hija que debían de sobrevivir, lo que llevó a Jade a alejarse de su padre , pues se sentía como una empleada más para el , más hay algo bueno de esto , Jade aprendió a rascarse con sus propias uñas , aún a si , Jade lleva siempre un hiyab rojo , la única cosa que Jafar le a regalado , porque al final del día,una parte de ella quiere saber si su padre le ama o no

Cloe ( carlos )

Estos 2 se volvieron amantes ,aunque jamás formalizaron nada , pues Cruella De vil no pierde tiempo con hombres, una vez nace Cloe, su padre se fue de Hell Hall , volviendo de vez en cuando , cuando Cruella le dejó volver , Le Pelt realmente poco o nada le importo Cloe , aunque estaba con ella , jamás le confesó que era su padre , porque realmente no tenía ningún interés en ella , de hecho , su trato con la niña no es diferente al que recibía Alonso

Ok, técnicamente la Hechicera no es madre de Bet , pero basado en otros materiales de Disney y teorías, Bet es nieta de la Hechicera , la cual si bien se a mantenido alejada de su familia, en parte por la discriminación hacia los seres mágicos, solo se permitió ver a Bet y a Bella a lo lejos... aunque a ella le agrada más Mal , que Adam

Si hablamos de la Bella y la Bestia , Bet tiene una mejor relación con su madre , ya que las 2 son muy parecidas , mujeres sensibles e inteligentes, pero tercas como mulas , además de que Bella siempre le apoya , aún si esta preocupada por su actitud perfeccionista

Ahora, Adam es otra historia, sabia que el no fue el príncipe estándar, cuestionando muchas veces si el es bueno para Bella , no queriendo que Bet terminara con alguien como el , decidió animar un compromiso con Adrien ( Audrey) , le entrego a su hija el príncipe perfecto en bandeja de plata , y ella se va con el punk que no puede hablar sin palabrotas, pero su relación tiene más conflictos, Adam constantemente presiona a Bet para entrar en parámetros reales muy estrictos, pues sabe su hija la tiene difícil siendo una mujer , pensando que si era la princesa perfecta, recibiría más apoyo, pero Bet termina siendo un desastre emocional, llena de miedos extremos a la más mínima imperfección, además de con problemas de ansiedad

People keep saying stuff about how the descendants maleficent isn’t The Maleficent from her namesake movie, which before ride of red I would understand and just say this is my headcanon

HOWEVER

Obviously in this universe things aren’t happening exactly the same as either Sleeping Beauty or The Maleficent movie. Therefore I think it’s reasonable to make headcanons that mesh both of these worlds. I mean Jasmine and aladddin are attending high school together instead of marrying basically a week after meeting.

So I stand by my interpretation of maleficent being an assault victim who is surrounding herself with strong people she trusts and making herself out to be strong and attacking anyone who makes her feel weak.

Also kinda related but not, I wonder of Maleficent and Morgie are close given that they’re both Fae. Morgana was a very strong sorceress of fae descent and given Maleficents lack of family and her general history I would imagine she idolizes her.

Well I really didn't know I could draw this well. The completed drawings are much better than I expected.

I was not in a good mood. I have been having online classes (I like online classes), but I suppose I have difficulties learning traditional art, and some of my courses are kind of disappointing. So I am probably not feeling so good. 😂

Uliana, Hook, Morgie, Hades, and Maleficent—they were your everything.

Your relationship with them had started slowly, each bond forming in its own time, like pieces of a puzzle falling into place. Uliana, with her sly smiles and endless charm, was the first to draw you in. Hook followed with his reckless grin and roguish wit. Morgie’s quiet strength, Hades’ surprisingly warm heart, and Maleficent’s fierce protectiveness—all of them had captured your heart in their own unique ways.

You were outside by the fountain, chatting with your friends—Bridget, Ella, and Charming—when you noticed Uliana, Hook, Morgie, Hades, and Maleficent watching from a distance. Their expressions were tight, their postures stiff. Something was wrong.

After saying goodbye to your friends, you made your way over to them. “Hey, what’s going on?”

Uliana’s usual smirk was missing as she glanced at the others. Hook was the first to speak, his voice laced with a rare vulnerability. “(Y/N), why are you with us?”

You blinked, confused by the question. “What do you mean?”

Morgie sighed, crossing his arms as he leaned against a tree. “You’re a royal, (Y/N). You have everything—the status, the friends, the perfect life. Why would you want to be with a bunch of misfits like us?”

The words hit you like a punch to the gut. You looked around at them, seeing the insecurity and doubt in their eyes. Even Maleficent, usually so composed, looked unsure, her gaze fixed on the ground.

Hades was the one who broke the silence. “You could have anyone, (Y/N). Why choose us? We’re not like you. We’re... not enough.”

You faced Hades next, cupping his face in your hands. “You have the kindest heart, even if you try to hide it.”

And finally, to Maleficent, who met your gaze with uncertainty. “You’re fierce and protective, and I love that about you.”

You took a step back so you could see all of them at once. “I love you all for who you are. That’s why I’m with you—because you make me feel like I’m home.”

Uliana was the first to react, pulling you into a tight embrace. “I’m sorry,” she murmured into your hair. “We were just... scared, I guess.”

Hook joined in, wrapping his arms around both of you. “Yeah, we’re idiots.”

Morgie, Hades, and Maleficent followed, surrounding you in a warm, protective circle. “We’re lucky to have you,” Morgie said softly.

“And I’m lucky to have you,” you replied, squeezing them all tightly.

The tension melted away, replaced by the comforting warmth of being with the people you loved most in the world. Whatever doubts they had, you were determined to dispel them, to show them every day just how much they meant to you.

The next day, everything seemed to return to normal, or so you thought. You spent the morning attending classes, and during lunch, you hung out with your friends—Bridget, Ella, and Charming. They were laughing about something when Bridget’s expression grew serious.

“(Y/N), can we talk for a second?” Bridget asked, her tone low.

You nodded, curious but not alarmed. “Sure, what’s up?”

Ella and Charming exchanged glances before Ella spoke. “It’s about Uliana, Hook, Morgie, Hades, and Maleficent. They’ve been... well, they’ve been pulling pranks. Mean ones.”

Your stomach dropped. “What do you mean?”

Charming sighed, running a hand through his hair. “They’ve been targeting other students. Specifically, other royals.”

“They’re trying to prove something,” Bridget added, her voice gentle. “I don’t think it’s malicious, but it’s definitely causing problems.”

You felt a mix of disappointment and frustration. This wasn’t like them—not the people you knew and loved. But you also remembered the conversation you had with them the day before, how they had expressed their insecurities about your relationship. It all made sense now.

“Thanks for telling me,” you said, your voice steady. “I’ll handle it.”

You found them later that afternoon, gathered in their usual spot. They were laughing, clearly pleased with themselves over something. But when they saw you approaching, their smiles faltered.

“(Y/N), what’s wrong?” Uliana asked, noticing the serious expression on your face.

You crossed your arms, not bothering to mask your disappointment. “I know about the pranks.”

Their reactions varied—Uliana looked guilty, Hook tried to play it off with a grin, Morgie and Maleficent avoided your gaze, and Hades sighed deeply.

“Why?” you asked, your voice filled with hurt. “Why would you do something like this?”

“(Y/N), it’s not a big deal,” Hook started, but you cut him off.

“It is a big deal, Hook. You’re hurting people because you’re insecure. You’re trying to prove something that doesn’t need proving.”

Uliana frowned, her guilt turning to defensiveness. “They had it coming. Those royals look down on us. They think we’re nothing but trouble.”

“And you’re proving them right by acting like this!” you shot back. “You’re better than this. All of you are.”

Morgie finally spoke up, his voice subdued. “We just... we didn’t want to lose you. They have so much to offer, and we’re just...”

You softened at his words, your heart aching for them. “I chose you. I choose you every day. But this? This isn’t the way to handle it.”

Hades, who had been silent until now, stepped forward, taking your hand in his. “We’re sorry, (Y/N). We didn’t think it would get this far.”

You squeezed his hand, looking at each of them in turn. “You don’t need to prove anything to me. I love you for who you are, not for what you think you should be. I don’t want to see you hurting others because of your insecurities.”

Maleficent finally spoke, her voice low but sincere. “We won’t do it again. We’ll make it right.”

Uliana nodded, her earlier defensiveness melting away. “We’ll fix this, (Y/N). We promise.”

You let out a breath you didn’t realize you were holding, feeling the tension leave your shoulders. “Thank you. I don’t want to see you guys hurt anyone, but I also don’t want to see you hurting yourselves with this kind of behavior.”

They all moved closer, surrounding you in a group hug that felt as warm and comforting as ever. Uliana pressed a kiss to your temple, Hook wrapped an arm around your waist, Morgie rested his forehead against yours, Hades held you close, and Maleficent gently touched your cheek.

“We love you, (Y/N),” Uliana whispered, and the others murmured their agreement.

“And I love you,” you replied, your voice thick with emotion. “We’re in this together, okay? No more doubts, no more pranks. Just us.”

They nodded, and you knew they meant it. The love you shared was stronger than any insecurities, any doubts. And together, you would face whatever challenges came your way, hand in hand.
