So, this is the result of my about 3-4 hours of work trying to draw the Gen 1 Starter Pokemon.
I was initially going to make it a short and quick cartoony thing, but then I decided to go into digital painting mode for some reason.
I’d also say that @galacticglaciers has the quote of the day, because I was listening to the Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles OST, and I laughed when it was described as a Celtic hoe down.
So, I started my Twitch stream on a newer page and the like—although I still need to do a few tweaks to a previous comic page.
Unrelated; I was really sad to find out that Odile van der Stap/jumei passed away recently; I really loved her work when I was on DeviantArt years and years ago, and it was really shocking learn this when I wanted to mention an artist I really liked in context of a specific thing in the Twitch stream.
That said, I’ve found that I don’t handle learning that people have passed away, period.
I officially have two finished webcomic pages now! I’m pretty happy about this development.
Also, my attempt at playing Passpartout was pretty fun, although I was sad that my favorite doodle of them all didn’t sell in the game. Oh well.
So, I only worked a couple more hours on the hands up top, but I’d say it’s vague progress.
So, I’m working on a new page—lots of hands, I’ve noticed. Also, spending a bunch of time drawing rocks was kinda fun. But yeah, this is a wip.
I’m so glad that I managed to finish this tonight! It’s been something I’ve been wanting to finish for a while now. That said, I’ve learned that my current stamina for drawing without getting hand cramps is somewhere in the ballpark range of about 6 straight hours.
Anyway, enjoy these sad saps.
I decided to draw some very tiny, low res Stardust Crusaders for the 50 followers Twitch stream today! Also, it turned out to be a good endurance test—I haven’t sustained 7 hours of solid drawing in a while.
(Fun Note; Avdol actually turned out to be my favorite one to draw. I also wonder if Araki wanted to kill him off because he’s so detailed...but that’s actually what I enjoyed about Avdol’s design when I actually got into drawing him.)
I ended/paused the stream, and I’m still drawing at the moment, and I didn’t make a whole lot of significant progress on comic stuff beyond “Ohhh, cool boots!”...
...but I ended up revisiting an alien doodle that was somewhere in my backlog of doodles, but without the rastacap on top. I may or may not revisit the idea of a rastafarian grey Alien—because I liked the idea of an alien that says “We come in peace” deciding that Rastafarians are A+ humans and chilling with them.
So, the kitsune death god I’ve been meaning to draw has been mostly speedpainted in the past 3 hours. I need to work on some contrast stuff, rendering that scythe, and deciding on the left hand, but...eh. Still pretty cool
Also, I have a 5-minute Milhouse doodle for no reason other than being asked.
It’s not even a good Milhouse doodle, pssh.
I decided to finish (mostly) an old Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer doodle I had in the depths of my computer a long time ago—but with it being explicit that Rudolph just has issues with allergies and sinusitis. His nose glows because he’s miserable. (I mean, why else would his nose glow red?)
Any way, happy holidays. :D
I’m almost done with this particular page, but I didn’t have the stamina to continue after a while—although I’m working on rough drafts for future pages.
Also, I spent nearly an hour not knowing that this update to Adobe Photoshop CC 2018 and it’s brush tool literally happened five days ago, and I’m just...an extra level of annoyed that I thought that it was Lazy Nezumi, and I couldn’t figure out how to turn off the smoothing mode for an hour until I figured out that it was Photoshop itself.
On the extra cool side, it’s super cool to see that Photoshop actually has proper screentone stuff now. Really. I’m experimenting with it to see how I can use it better. (Although I’ll probably just get better over time anyway, tbh.)
So, this is the result of my Twitch Stream! I’m pretty stoked that I’m back in the swing of things after Hurricane Irma, and I’m pretty happy that I made A LOT of progress on the page in the past 4.5 hours (although I felt like I wasted a bit of my time with Lazy Nezumi. I want to see if I was doing something wrong, because I only found it useful for two things.)
I also appreciate that the quote “Vaporwave Trash Child’s Baby” is now immortalized in a Facebook status of @arzeron‘s, and I got some good pointers for drawing babus from @galacticglaciers.
This was the result of my Twitch stream today! I can’t say that I got as much done as I would have liked, but that’s because my roommate’s corgi, Truffles, started vomiting on both of the couches. She had to be taken care of, and things had to be cleaned. That’s kind of an emergency.
Incidentally, I’m thinking that I want to try the Lazy Nezumi plugin at some point in the near future. I like technical drawing by hand and all, and getting by on on Brush>>Shift>>Click and drawing out a perspective layer isn’t the worst thing I could possibly do...but it seems like Lazy Nezumi’s Illustrator-esque grids might be helpful, and the fisheye thing seems SUPER neato. (Until the inevitable happens and Adobe just adds that as a thing anyway...like how a file recovery plug-in I once had basically became standard anyway.)
So, I made a bit of progress on the first comic page, and I made a little bit of progress on the logo stuff for the comic.
Also, @plaguenurse had a comment on Twitch that basically made me laugh maniacally for a good minute or so while working on the architecture on the top panel.
